Dr. Leonda Armstrong grew up on a farm in north eastern New Mexico. Her parents raised and bred both registered Angus cattle and Quarter horses. She was active in 4-H and FFA from age 9 to 19. Leonda showed horses and cattle in both organizations and even judged horses on a collegiate level.
She graduated from Clayton High School and proceeded to New Mexico State University where she graduated with a major in Animal Science and a double minor in Chemistry and Biology. Colorado State University was the next stop, where a single mom, she studied and graduated as a mixed animal veterinarian.
Upon graduation, Leonda moved to Chino Valley and began practice with Dr. Terry Miller at Circle L. She is very glad to call Circle L Animal Hospital her home away from home.
Dr Katie Smith was born in New York (the state, not the city!) and was raised in Virginia for eight years prior to moving with her family to Phoenix, AZ. Between attended Arcadia High School and eventually going to Colorado State University, she was employed for almost ten years training horses and working with brood mares and foals in Scottsdale. Dr Smith’s lifelong desire to be a veterinarian was encouraged by the great veterinarians that she worked closely with throughout her profession and she decided to return to school to follow her dream. She attended CSU to receive her BS in Bio-Agriculture, then on to receive her degree in veterinary medicine (DVM) in 1991.
Since that time Dr Smith has practiced in Kansas, Idaho and most recently in Arizona. After practicing in Payson for three years, she now looks forward to settling in Chino Valley. She brings with her a desire to practice the very best medicine possible, continuing to pursue her goal to be an outstanding physician and surgeon!
